Karen has co-written four novels with Jennifer Kaufman. Her first novel, Literacy and Longing in LA was on the LA Times Best Seller List for 15 weeks reaching #1, winning the Best Fiction Award from the California Bookseller’s Association. Her other novels were also very well reviewed in the New York Times Book Review and many other publications. Her 4th novel will be published by Harper Collins on June 30, 2026 and the television and film rights were sold after an auction. Karen is a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning producer of films and television. For the last 25 years, she was the writer and Executive Producer of “A Home for the Holidays,” an annual CBS Network Music Special which promotes foster care adoption, a show which she created. Home for the Holidays won the Television Academy Honors, an award given out by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Originally from Nevada, Karen is a cum laude graduate of UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law.
