Frustrated residents addressed the City Council this week to support a motion by Councilmembers Nithya Raman, Paul Koretz, Mike Bonin and Bob Blumenfield. The City Council listened to the complaints about poor enforcement of non-compliant owners of short-term rentals:
-
Short-term rentals should be limited to primary residences as required by law.
-
There are many short-term rentals operating without permits.
-
There are many permits that are given to people who don’t actually live at the location.
-
The above comprise the vast majority of short-term rentals in the neighborhood.
-
There are websites that are almost entirely non-compliant, and there has been no consequence.
-
There are too many ways to get around the rules.
-
Any personal experience with any of the above.
