Short-term rental update: Los Angeles City Council passes regulations

After three years of debate, the ordinance for short-term rental housing was approved Tuesday, December 11, 2018, by the Los Angeles City Council.

The ordinance limits people renting out their primary residence for vacation rentals and prohibit apartment conversion into hotels.  The regulation also defines a primary residence as where the host lives onsite for at least six months.
