The Bel-Air/Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council held their Skirball Fire Town Hall meeting on January 31, 2018, at the Eugene and Michael Rosenfeld Auditorium in Franklin Canyon Park.  Robin Greenberg, President of the BABCNC introduced the city officials and guests as well as the evening’s moderator, Andre Stojka.  

With standing room only, stakeholders were able to listen and present questions to many city officials, that included the concerns on the unique fire prevention regulations necessary in our hillsides, emergency response and recovery, communication during emergency events, current building codes and how they relate to fire roads and alternative evacuation routes, concerns of the on-going problem of smoking in the hillsides, the Administrative Citation Enforcement (ACE) ordinance, WAZE issues, and those services available to aid those who find themselves homeless and how we as a community can help with the homelessness issue.

City officials and guests included Councilmember Paul Koretz; Councilmember David Ryu; LA Neighborhood Prosecutor Veronica de la Cruz-Robles; LAFD Deputy Chief Armando Hogan; LAPD Senior Lead Officer Christopher Ragsdale; LA Emergency Management Department (EMD) Chris Ipsen; LADBS Chief Inspector Pascal Chillita; Greg Martayan, CD5’s Chief Deputy of Public Safety; MRCA Ranger Walt Young (Mountains Recreations and Conservation Authority); Michael Schlenker of LAFD Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) Leader (HAM radio communications); Tom Waldman from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA); Va Lecia Adams Kellum from the St. Joseph Service Planning Area-5 (SPA-5); Scott Sale of Safe Parking LA; and Albert (Bert) Mutto, a formerly homeless gentlemen from Pacific Palisades. 

The BABCNC extended their gratitude to MRCA Ranger Walt Young who graciously provided the venue for the Town Hall.
